Replacing the coilover shocks on my R8
In hind sight, the ride before the new shocks was pretty bad. When I say bad, I mean every little bump in the road would dislodge fillings and the tires bounced like they were on a downhill mogul run.
The shocks that I removed from the car were at lest the second set of shocks to live on the car since they were aftermarket. They were H&R coil overs, and were suppsed to be a decent brand, and yet they failed (leaked oil and stopped dampening) just like cheaper and more expensive shocks. After being quoted $9,000 to have them replaced and then doing a Geoffrey amount of research, I went with BC Racing coilovers and did it myself. Many youtube videos were watched and it went as smoothly as it could have gone, having learned from the mistakes of others through the magic of the Internet.
The bad shock. The oil should be on the inside.
The new one, nice and shiney and springey and dampeney (can that be aa word?).
Out with the old!
